Towards a sustainable maritime economy. Strategic Priorities for Ukraine’s Economic Recovery

In Ukraine, as in many European countries, great attention is paid to the preservation and sustainable development of marine resources and the natural environment. These issues become especially important in the context of European cooperation, namely during the celebration of the European Maritime Day (EMD). After all, this is an event that is gaining more and more popularity and significance in our country, attracting the attention of specialists, activists and the public to the issues of marine resources and sustainable development in the maritime space.

On May 25, 2023, the European Maritime Day will be held in Mykolaiv in a hybrid format (offline-online)

The event is organized by Team Europe Mykolaiv and the Ukrainian Maritime Cluster with the support of theDelegation of the European Union to Ukraine as part of the European Maritime Days 2023.

The event aims to unite and consolidate the efforts and joint actions of key market players, central and local authorities to preserve and support the development of the maritime industry of Ukraine, as well as to intensify Ukraine’s activities in the European Maritime Community.

Among the key priorities will be the reconstruction of the Maritime Industry of Ukraine as a coherent and sustainable structure. It is also planned to discuss the place and importance of the marine complex of Ukraine in the context of the European vector of economic integration and to raise urgent issues of preservation and development of the sea, to inform about the current activities of the Maritime Cluster of Ukraine and its planned projects.

The following areas of discussion are planned as part of the meeting:

1. Economic recovery of Ukraine. Restoration of shipping, Ukrainian port infrastructure.

2. International cooperation for mutually beneficial partnership and development of the maritime industry. EU policy.

3. The role of the Ukrainian Maritime Cluster (PU “UMC”) in integration processes.

4. Experience of the PU “UMC” General Assembly in cooperation projects. Future prospects and plans of the maritime community.

5. Ukrainian cluster alliance. Clusters 4 Ukraine initiative.

6. Strategy for the development of the marine industry in Ukraine.

The following are invited to participate: heads and managers of companies working in the field of shipbuilding, ship repair, design, maintenance of yachts and small vessels, trade, sea freight, cabotage services, marine services, marinas, crewing, rental, as well as representatives of central and local authorities with the involvement of representatives of the European maritime community.
