Abstract. The task of increasing the contribution of the shipbuilding industry of Ukraine to the growth of gross domestic product requires its radical transformation. The main problematic issues that hinder the development of a strategy for the development of shipbuilding in Ukraine are considered. Key directions and conditions that will become the basis of its strategy in the future have been identified.
