We invite members and partners of the Ukrainian Maritime Cluster to participate in the workshop “BLUE ECONOMY: FROM IDEAS TO PRACTICAL IMPLEMENTATION.”
Time: July 15, from 10:00 to 14:00
Location: Business Support Center, Mykolaiv
Event Format: Offline
The Blue Economy is a crucial part of the sustainable global economy, aimed at preventing negative climate change and preserving marine and oceanic spaces. Together with the Green Deal, the Blue Economy forms the strategic course of the European Union for the coming decades. At the initiative of the European Commission, Ukraine joined the “Black Sea Blue Economy Development Fund” in 2020, alongside Georgia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, and Russia. The initiators of development in this area in southern Ukraine — the Mykolaiv Regional Business Support Center and the Ukrainian Marine Cluster – are consistently implementing a course towards the development of the Blue Economy by participating in European projects.
During the full-scale war in Ukraine, the topic of the “Blue Economy” goes beyond ecology and climate change. It also encompasses elements that contribute to economic resilience and future recovery. This primarily includes renewable energy, solutions to security challenges, as well as new sources of food supply chains, biotechnology, scientific research, and the implementation of circular economy principles across all stakeholders. In EU programs, innovative clusters and technology business communities are playing an increasingly significant role in deploying and implementing such initiatives.
During the event, participants will receive answers to questions about adapting the traditional European model to current regional conditions, key stakeholder initiatives and priorities, and how government, business, and communities are coming together around them. In addition, Oleksandr Yurchak, General Director of the Association of Industrial Automation Enterprises of Ukraine (APPAU), Coordinator of the Industry 4.0 Movement, and workshop trainer-facilitator, will present new grant opportunities and outline support tools for small and medium-sized businesses.
