As part of the European Maritime Day 2026 events, the Ukrainian Maritime Cluster and the Ukrainian Ports Association “Ukrport” signed a Memorandum of Cooperation, laying the foundation for structured partnership in the development of the maritime and port sectors.
The document was signed by Olena Zhukova, Executive Director of the Ukrainian Maritime Cluster, and Dmytro Barinov, President of the Ukrport Association.
The Memorandum provides for the consolidation of efforts of both parties aimed at implementing joint projects, advancing scientific and technical cooperation, and introducing innovations in shipbuilding, ship repair, and port infrastructure. Particular attention is given to attracting international investment, developing modern technologies, and integrating Ukraine’s maritime sector into European and global value chains.
The Memorandum also creates the framework for joint work in port modernisation, the implementation of digital solutions, and the support of innovative projects, all contributing to enhancing the competitiveness of Ukraine’s maritime industry.
The parties agreed to maintain regular communication, organise joint activities, develop project initiatives, and involve other organisations and international partners in cooperation. At the same time, the signed document is of a framework nature, defining strategic areas of cooperation without establishing financial obligations, thereby allowing flexible development of future collaboration formats.
The signing of the Memorandum marks an important step in strengthening coordination among key stakeholders in Ukraine’s maritime sector and opens new opportunities for innovation, international partnership, and the recovery of the country’s maritime economy.
